I acknowledge Safety Awards are considered by the CRA and the IRS to be a taxable benefit to the employee and are subject to tax. The tax depends on the value of the award and the place that an employees lives. in Canada awards over $500 (either by itself or in combination with other awards including non-safety awards) are taxable in Canada, and in the USA awards over $400 are taxable.
